Planet Fest urges a vegan lifestyle to save animals and the planet
This event, billed as environmental, health and food festival, will feature celebrities, sports stars, musicians and doctors, all discussing how our food choices can help address climate change, deforestation, drought and habitat loss and animal suffering.
Despite the gravitas of the topics, the festival promises to also be a summer celebration with music by Greg Cipes, Panhead and Babylon Saints; and food presented by a variety of vegan sponsors.
Non-profit organizations and concerned local citizens created the free event to celebrate “positive action to solve our planet’s greatest challenges.” The key action the event emphasizes: Go vegan to save resources.
Scheduled celebs include: NBA champion, TV sports show host, and health guru John Salley; NFL record-setting superstar Tony Gonzalez; Anteneh Roba, M.D ., founder of the International Fund for
Africa; Dr. Elliot Katz, founder of In Defense of Animals; Champion bodybuilder Kenneth G. Williams , “The Green One”; author and educator Dave Warwak; Lorri Houston, founder of Animal Acres Sanctuary
and radio host Bob Linden, who will emcee the event.
It will also feature kids activities, animal adoptions and food offered by a variety of vegan shops and restaurants. The gathering’s sponsors include PETA-Los Angeles and many other animal rights groups, as well as vegan restaurants. See the website for details.
